Where It All Started

What would it feel like to take it back to the beginning and put on an outfit that takes trends out of the equation and makes you feel the most like…well, you?

In a world of “cool” aesthetics, constantly evolving trends, and color schemes, it can be hard to remember where your style inspiration started.

The “clean, cool girl” trend has taken over the streets with the commonly known slick back bun, black trouser, white tee and sneaker outfit. We love to see it, but have some of us forgotten how good it feels to let our {natural} hair down and wear a well-loved band tee to brunch?

What would it feel like to take it back to the beginning and put on an outfit that takes trends out of the equation and makes you feel the most like…well, you?

Today we’re going to talk through 4 ways to strip it all away and take a moment to embrace your {inner} coolest self.

Honor Your Faves

First things first, we all have a few pieces in our closet that feel like home. For me, it’s my dads high school graduation t-shirt — worn holes, a fading blue ‘94, and all. There’s just something about it that helps me remember who I am beneath all of the layers of skincare, scratchy (but beautiful) wool sweaters, and sunnies.

Take a day this week to pull 5 pieces from your closet (or even boxes) that make you feel at home. Hang them on a clothing rack in your room for a week just to remember them, or incorporate them into your outfits! For me, this tee would look so cool with a blazer and baggy jeans.

When you pull those pieces and honor that part of yourself, it’s almost like telling her (or him), “Don’t worry, I’m still here — we’re in this together”.

Try “Dopamine Dressing”

The feel-good fashion concept we’re seeing more and more of this year is “dopamine dressing,” and man, it is so fun!

According to an article in Byrdie, “by wearing a certain color, texture, or style, we can activate the release of dopamine, the feel-good chemical our bodies make.”

It’s time to bring out the pretty colors (barbie pink, anyone?), mini skirts and checkered bucket hats to play dress up! When we wear things that we feel good in, we do just that — feel good! And I don’t know about you, but I feel like that is a pretty good way to switch things up and spark inspiration. My lavender jumpsuit and I will see YOU for a Saturday afternoon coffee run.

Call in the Pros

Have you ever thought to yourself, “if I could just find the right pieces for me, I would feel so much more confident?” Look no further, because that is literally what Fashivly is here for 👏

There is something incredibly special about filling out a questionnaire with everything you are hoping for in a wardrobe and a few weeks later receiving a curated guide of all the things that you never knew could make you look and feel SO GOOD.

Confidence boost? Every time. I may be a little biased, but the tried and true seasonal style guide routine is the way to go.

Have Fun (!!!)

No matter what you’re doing or wearing, the most important part of this journey is to simply…HAVE FUN! There is nothing more important for your personal style than honoring the things that make you feel the most like you. We’re all here for it! Have fun!
