5 Tips to Find Your Perfect Summer Set
I will be the first to say it - it’s too dang hot.
In the southern U.S., we’re hitting peak summer season, where the sun beats down on us from 6 am-8 pm. The mosquitos are circling, and everyone is just trying to get access to someone’s pool.
Right around this time of year is when I start to get really lazy about getting dressed.
It’s too hot for my high-waisted jeans. I can’t even look at my combat boots without breaking a sweat.
If a shirt has sleeves, FORGET ABOUT IT. Most of my favorite pieces start to feel a little too hot or heavy this time of year. And to be honest, I end up in workout clothes for the entire day more often than I’d like to admit.
BUT, I have found one stylish summer secret that's taking me from sweaty and sticky to impossibly chic.
It’s all about summer sets.
Give me a matching tank and shorts or a breezy crop top and skirt set any day. Make them lightweight and easy to throw on and we are good to go!
If you don’t want to spend the rest of your summer days in sweaty misery but still want to look pulled together, these summer sets are the answer.
I love pairing a great set with low-key sandals, chunky sneakers, or easy slide-ons depending on the day. With these beauties, accessories can stay simple - a gold chain, maybe some hoops, and a go-to tote bag to throw everything you need inside of.
Here are a few of my favorite sets, and some tips on which ones you should consider adding to YOUR shopping cart.
Tip #1:
When you’re hunting for a great set, look for lightweight fabrics and bright colors to give off that “Everyday is vacation” kind of vibe.
H&M
Tip #2:
Still need to head into the office? There’s a set for that, too! Look for more structured pieces and chic details in light and airy fabrics to keep the vibe right.
Free People
Tip #3:
Are you dressing up for a wedding, baby shower or other special occasion? Grab a skirt set that can be dressed up or down and go from day to night!
Abercrombie
Tip #4
It’s the fun little details that make these sets stand out. Right now I’m loving crochet, lace and ruffles which help you to make a statement without all the effort.
Aerie
Tip #5:
Patterns make the fashion world go round. Don’t be afraid to try some florals or stripes every once in awhile. Then, try to mix and match if you’re feeling bold!
