RomCom Lover Forever

For the days I need a lighthearted laugh and a little fashion advice, romcoms are my go-to!

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to live inside some of your favorite movies? The ones you go back to over and over, that have shaped you in a way. This could be through fashion, emotional connection, life lessons — movies are a well and we pull inspiration from them every single day.

I have always been a romance girl at heart. From Prince Charming in Disney to a wide array of Nicholas Sparks characters, I find myself going back to this incredible genre over and over. I feel inspired to give and experience romance! I mean, that is part of it, you know? The dream. Meeting your person, living a beautiful life, growing together…forever. That’s the dream for me, at least!

Now, there are many forms of romance in the movie world, but for the days I need a lighthearted laugh and some one-of-a-kind fashion advice, romcoms are my go-to! A little bit of romance, a little bit of drama, a little bit of laughter — does it get much better?

Let’s dive into some of my favorite outfit picks from 90’s and early 2000’s RomComs.

The Parent Trap

I like to think about where my love of certain things started for me — my love for long walks, old bookstores and in this case, redemption stories.

The Parent Trap is where my love for RomComs started. I remember watching it as a kid and thinking it was just a silly movie, but a few months ago I watched it again and saw so much love intertwined into the silly storyline I thought I knew so well.

Everyone in this movie is SO well dressed, but here are a few of my favorite fits:

How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days

Kate Hudson and Matthew McConaughey. Need I say more? Motorcycle, blowout, high rise jeans, and a white tank. I simply cannot stop thinking about the scene where (name) takes (name) out for a drive. Basics will always be a go-to, and she wears them so well here.

Wether she is dressing to put on another one of her ridiculous moments or dressing for real, Hudson wears some pretty memorable outfits in this movie. Many of us are familiar with her iconic yellow dress, but I also love what she wears to the office, for girls night, and just to hang out.

Sleepless in Seattle

If you love true 90s fashion and longing glances, this movie is for you. Thrifting is a very much loved pastime of mine, so to see Meg Ryan wearing outfits that can be picked up at a local spot caused me to feel extra inspired to put together some new looks.

Annie Reed is a reporter who falls in love with a stranger. But, this isn’t just another story for her…

13 Going on 30

Jenna Rink, we love you. I mean really. If I had to choose one movie to watch for the rest of my life, this would be it.

Watching her open her closet for the first time after time-traveling to 30 is an iconic moment I will never forget. The world (aka her closet) is her oyster in that moment. Watchers have the chance to enjoy watching her wake up 17 years later and realize she has become the editor of her favorite fashion magazine, Poise. What a DREAM!

If I could include every outfit from this movie, I would. But I’ll tone it down and include just a few.

Legally Blonde

I know most of this movie is about Reese Witherspoon playing a sorority queen becoming an incredible lawyer, but there is something romantic about the chance she takes on herself.

Elle gives up the chase for the guy she thought she would marry (who ends up being a total jerk!!!) to instead, become someone she can be proud of. Does she end up with someone better in the end? You’ll have to watch to find out.

Of course, her well-rounded knowledge of fashion is the icing on the cake!

There are so many good ones out there, and these are just a few. I hope you love these outfits as much as I have over the years!

The cool thing about Fashivly is, they can take any inspiration you have and turn it into an array of outfits that also speak to YOUR personal style. Have something in mind? Visit their booking page to get started.
