5 Outfits to Wear When You Wish It Was Warmer Out

Cold weather slump? Daydreaming about warmer days on your lunch break? Ugh, I’m right there with you.

Luckily Spring started (or: “is officially starting” based on post date) on March 20th and man, does that spark excitement for farmers market Saturday’s, pretty blooms, and wholesome picnics with the fam.

Now, here’s the thing. I know the temperatures are still ranging from chilly to comfortable to windows down and thriving, but I think there is something to be said about the outfits we wear when we wish it was warmer out.

An outfit can help shift your mindset and remind you that warmer days are just a few weeks away. Here are five outfits that will do just that…

A Dress & Tights Moment

I don’t know about you, but a mini dress screams Spring to me! They are fun, feminine, and surely help me look forward to 70 degree weather. This Motel Rocks dress is my number one pick for my first seasonal purchase.

A simple pair of tights and socks can help you stay warm, and loafers are a great year-round choice that many of us already have in our closets!

Sweater Vest & Fun Denim

Ok, ok I know this cashmere vest is pricey but I just couldn’t get over it. And, I promise there are plenty of alternatives out there for something similar!

A sweater vest is a great staple item to add to your wardrobe (capsule or otherwise), because you can wear it on its own or layer it with a number of basics to switch things up depending on the temperature that day. Add in a fun pair of denim, sunnies and a sneaker, and you have a casual outfit for your day to day errands.

Again, this formula is a great baseline for any occasion! Dress it up or down depending on your activities.

Boxer Shorts & Cozy Sweater

Guys, the boxer short trend is all over my for you page and as someone who loves pjs, I am HERE for it.

Something wonderful about Spring is being able to look at your closet as a whole and pair items you wouldn’t normally be able to pair in Winter or Summer. For example, this Alpaca Crew Sweater from Everlane is an absolute staple, but would be way too warm for Summer. When you pair it with shorts and sneakers, though, it’s perfect for a Spring coffee run.

Farmer’s Market Chic

Strawberry season is almost here in North Carolina and makes for arguably one of the most wonderful times of the year. If you haven’t been strawberry picking, trust me when I say it is truly a wholesome experience! Hence the sweatshirt feature…

The UO sweatshirt and Free People Idle Hands Sling make for fun outfit additions. Pair them with a mini skirt and boots, baggy jeans and sneakers, or even sweats and Birkenstocks for those Saturday farmer’s market runs mentioned above.

Pops of Color

After many, many years of neutrals, I keep hearing the phrase, “I’m trying to add more color into my wardrobe.”

I’ve learned that basics can be any color you choose. Just because something isn’t black doesn’t mean it can’t be a part of your weekly rotation. Right?

And naturally, when dreaming of warmer weather many of us gravitate towards fun colors and patterns. These cargos and orange patterned bag are just two examples of ways you can gradually add more color into your wardrobe, just in time for Spring.

Now, while this post is mainly centered around full outfits, I did want to throw in a few pieces I came across over the last few weeks. Just for fun, of course 😊

There’s only a few weeks left until our favorite outdoor activities are back on the radar. I hope these outfits help inspire you in the meantime.

We’re almost there, friend!
